Field Hockey wins 3-2 in OT over Washington and Lee

Hillary Relyea scored 2 goals today including the game winner in the Lynx defeat of Washington and Lee in Danville, KY today.  Lindsey Gurkovich scored for the Lynx as well as assisted on the game winner.  Rhodes controlled the middle of the field with strong play from Charlie Wagner and an outstanding effort from senior defender Maria Cowley, who recorded a defensive save in the first half.  Meghan Cullen had a great effort in goal which was aided by spectacular defensive effort by Rachel Webb, Laura Deines, and Sarah Crowley.  Relyea scored the game winner just 6 minutes into overtime play, senior Maria Cowley won possession in the defensive half, beat one of Washington and Lee's tough midfielders and played the ball up to Lindsey Gurkovich who made the cross to Relyea who swept the ball in one the reverse for the win.  The win was the program's first over the Generals, after losing 2-1 in 2006, 3-2 in 2005, and 5-0 in 2001.  The Lynx (4-0) look forward to opening conference play at Sewanee Saturday (9/13) at 11 am.
